About the Threshold Desk
Checked October 8, 2026By the Threshold Desk
The Threshold Desk is the collective name Behind the Doors is written and signed under, and no page carries a personal byline. This page explains why the guide exists and how its facts are checked.
Why the guide exists
For many readers, an evening out means more than a gaming floor. People plan around a show, a late dinner, a room for the night or a way in without going outside. The Threshold Desk writes Behind the Doors for that kind of planning.
Behind the eight doors of the Edmonton area, the rooms differ sharply. The Venue at River Cree holds up to 2,500 people. Century Mile Racetrack & Casino has a full one-mile racetrack. River Cree has 249 hotel rooms, Century Casino & Hotel Edmonton has 26, and Starlight reaches Fantasyland Hotel through West Edmonton Mall. Five have no hotel on site.
Six of the eight list food later than 11 pm on at least one night. The guide itself is not a casino. It takes no bets, has no accounts and no cashier, and is not affiliated with any venue or operator.
How the desk checks
Each amenity comes from a casino's own website, an operator's annual report, a city or district directory or a news report. The Threshold Desk keeps every item with the page it came from and the date it was checked. Some casino sites block automated reading. For those, the desk used an Internet Archive copy of the casino's own page and marked it in the research notes.
Venue facts were checked on October 8, 2026, and casino and table-game hours again on October 9, 2026. When two official pages disagree, such as two seating figures for one show room, the figure is left out. Holiday hours are not covered and should be checked on each venue's own site.
The guide does not rank casinos. It does not guess how busy a room is, say what is on stage on a given night, or give prices.
